motion sensing, LED lights, custom software

Latent (e)Scapes is a collaboration between SHO Architects and ULR Studio. The interactive landscape was commissioned by Harvard University for the Susan S. and Kenneth L. Wallach Garden on the Radcliffe campus.  The system consists of over 1600 acrylic scapes rising out of rounded grass-covered berms. Each scape is individually controlled by a central computer. Motion sensors embedded throughout the landscape captured visitors' movements and activate explosions of light that slowly fizzle out and float away.
